[8600 or G3 Tower Power Mac]

PowerMac machines

Most recent revision date Mar 5 2024.

We are primarily selling PowerMac PARTS. We are generally not offering systems. Systems shown on this Web page are examples. These systems are not for sale, they are shown for reference for myself and for my customers as we discuss parts. We may have some systems ONLY for my use to test parts, we sell parts not systems. If you want an expanation or reason: it is an easier and more economic business to sell parts than to sell systems. Contact us to identify parts and to obtain prices for specific parts. If you would like parts from these listed systems, like power supplies or logics (CPU cards), or add-on cards, ask for availability and price. A complete list of pointers to our Mac inventory, services and information can be found on my Mac home page.

We have in this section examples of Power Macs prior to the G3's and some cards and accessories. For examples of 68040 systems, check our 68040 section. For examples of iMac, eMac, G3, or any G4 or G5 systems, check our iMac section. Want to compare processors and speeds? Check our list of systems and processors. See the end of this page for the date this page was updated.

If you need to see technical specifications on any of these systems, search the Web for sites which offer specifications by model. For convenience about memory requirements, her is a memory chart for older Macs.

To contact me or to order, please follow this link for ordering information, terms and conditions.

Meanwhile, here are PowerMacs by model:

Parts for PowerMacs

Parts for sale may include: the motherboard/CPU boards, power supplies, etc. Complete systems are shown below for reference and example only. Parts are available here and on other pages of my Web site but you can also ask for a specific part by description, PowerMac system and (if you have it) part number.

See this list for available pre-G4 PowerMac motherboards. These lists may not be current.

I have parts for most of the PowerMacs on this page: specify the system model and describe the part when ordering. For some parts like power supplies, look for for a part number on the part and describe the part. Cards and motherboards often have a part number, and when in use they have a description available from "system properties".

[5200 or 5300 PowerPC]

Parts for sale may include: the motherboard/CPU boards, power supplies, etc. Complete systems are shown below for reference and example only. Parts are available here and on other pages of my Web site but you can also ask for a specific part by description, PowerMac system and (if you have it) part number.

Apple produced a series of PowerPC systems with self-contained 15-inch color monitors and speakers, and with easily removed and replaced "logics". Their model numbers are the 5200 5300 5400 range, depending on options and processor type and speed.. Many of these were sold to schools. They used the 601 602 603 series of PowerMac processors, at speeds of 75MHz to 220MHz or more, and with various features. They became known as "all in one" systems because the monitor and speakers were one unit, not seperate like desktop or tower systems.

These processors were on easily removable logics/CPU cards and so these systems can be user-upgraded with 5200, 5300, 5400, 5500 logics from other "all in one" systems. With effort, owners of 5200, 5300 and 5400 Macs can use logics from the desktop (no monitor) 6200 and some 6300 series logics. You can also use CPU cards/logics/motherboards from the PowerMac 6400 and 6500 series systems, but without the dual PCI bus card adapter (because it is too tall).

The 5200, 5300 and 5400 series use IDE (not SCSI) drives internally, but they also support the standard Mac external SCSI port and a internal SCSI CD-ROM. Please refer to other Web sites for more information about these upgrades. Check our list of informative Mac Web sites or do a Web search to find those sites.

If you want parts for these systems I list some specifically on other pages of my Web site but you can also ask for a specific part by description, system and (if you have it) part number.

Because of the large size and weight, and fragility due to age, we will never EVER ship one of these systems. Period. The following is an example of one of this series of all-in-one Macs for reference only, and for sale of parts. The description below may not be current of course.

PowerMac 5500/225 system with video in/out. 225 Mhz 603ev PowerMac "all in one" system. Also has Avid brand SVideo and composite video in and out (PCI card and media card). Also Ethernet card in comm slot. Here's an image of the back, showing the video and Ethernet connectors. 1.2GB IDE hard drive, CD-ROM drive and floppy. with 32MB of EDO memory (uses EDO only in 2 slots). We will sell parts if a substantial offer is made., for example an offer for the CPU, video and ethernet cards. If you want the TV/Video cards seperately, also look at my parts section for additional cards with prices, model numbers, and details.

Extra memory for the 5200, 5300 series: 72 pin SIMM RAM: check memory section for prices.
Extra memory for the 5400 series: 168 pin 5V DIMM RAM: check memory section for prices.

I have some 630 and 6300 series front panels and back panels. These have fragile "snaps" so some have broken bits. Ask me about specific panels and cosmetic conditions. For the rear panel, there are different models with different holes in them: the large horizontal hole for a LC card or video card may be absent. Please provide the part number 815-XXXX that is molded into the panel. because I only have USED parts, not Apple Service Parts with their different part number 922-XXXX labels.

Rear panel, incorrect information, help me correct
815-2074 large rect. hole possibly service part 922-1565 or 922-2434
815-2461 large rect. hole
815-1775 NO hole, possibly service part 922-2439
